One of our favourite discoveries on our way across the country. We were hungry and near Regina and I wanted something real, and we found something infinitely better than we could have expected. It was quiet when we got there, so we got to soak in the beautiful ambiance and chat with the smart, friendly staff about all the amazing pieces of art on the wall and also about what we should eat.
Marc had an enormous and glorious veggie burger and I had this wrap thing with tofu fried up like popcorn chicken, a tasty sauce, piles of fresh lettuce, like a combo of your favourite childhood fast food and your new favourite healthy vegetarian dish. So great. Between this place and 33 1/3 across the street I suddenly really kind of wanted to live in Regina and be part of this creative healthy little scene. I probably won't be making the move officially, but I'll definitely be back next year on my way through, and I hope if you read this you go check it out too! -

A vegetarian diner is an interesting concept because most diner foods we think of are not vegetarian. I enjoyed my Ringer sandwich. It was an onion ring filled with egg and cheese and served as a breakfast sandwich.

A great place for vegetarians.
This new diner just opened in late July 2016 and offers an entirely vegetarian menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I had a great first impression with my first stop here for dinner. I asked my waitress what was vegan on the menu (roughly half of the menu is or can be made vegan) and decided to give The Stranger a try, without cheese of course. The burger was quite good, served between two large slices of rye bread that the cook asked if I wanted cut in half. As recommended, the fries were delicious too.
Not only was my waitress helpful, but a younger waitress who wasn't waiting on me even came over a few times to chat and give me tips for places to visit on my road trip. She was so friendly and helpful, and it was she who convinced me to come back for breakfast.
Two days later, I came in just after 8 on a Saturday morning and was kind of shocked to see only one person on duty (cooking and waiting). Luckily another employee showed up maybe 15 minutes later to help out.
I ordered the vegan pancakes and a side of hash browns, which ended up being a huge plate, rather than a side. No complaints here! They had a whole counter full of hot sauce that I got to choose from to add some spice to the potatoes. (They weren't traditional hash browns, just cut and cooked potatoes) Although the presentation of the pancakes was beautiful, the cakes themselves were a bit dry. It's hard to find really good vegan pancakes. At least these were served with a heaping pile of fruit.
As far as portion sizes and prices go, you certainly get a bang for your buck here. Service is friendly, but most helpful when they have extra hands on deck. The food is generally good and filling, although for a vegetarian diner, I'm hoping for some more creative vegan options in the future.
You should check out this place if you're in Regina or stopping through! -

Seriously hands down the best diner/restaurant in all of Regina. So many vegan options. Everything you get is gold. And if for some reason it wasn't the staff are so amazing. The owner is the bees knees. It's got the old diner feel - so no reservations and no take out. I love that!! Bringing back family run quality. Don't ever leave us!!! They are always bringing new food items to the table. Follow them on social media and u will never wanna eat anywhere else with all of those temptations. 10/5. I highly recommend trying their main menu - stranger burger, KFC wrap, fries, anything! Breakfast is great too but the "lupper" menu cannot be beat. Definitely delicious even for the meat eaters. If you're a hot sauce feind you have a wall of options. And they have coffee! And now liquor. Can't be beat.
